GMRS INFORMATION PAGE

As I mentioned before on the web, my name is Joe Reynolds, and as well as holding a Ham License for over 28 years, I am a returning to GMRS to expand my communications capabilities.

What is G.M.R.S.???   Why do I need a license?  How do I obtain a license?  How Much is a license?  What type of Radio can I use?  What is FRS? What is the difference between FRS & GMRS?  What is MURS?

I will try and answer all of these questions, and more.  There will be links to publications, groups, & websites that will answer as many of these questions as possible.  You want a great way to talk to you family when they are on the road running errands. You have family members who DON'T want to study for their Ham license, but still want away to communicate with you if the cell towers are not working?  This is a great alternative to HAM, and many hams have both GMRS as well as their Ham License.

I already have put a list of Frequencies up and how to contact the correct person on that repeater. You should always try and contact the Control Operator of that repeater before using it, unless you are using tone 141.3, then I would still try and contact that Control Operator, as a courtesy. If you are in a vacation spot for a few days/weeks (months..) then you want to have permission to use this person's repeater.
